Naive Melancholy [sic]
Home - is where I want to be But I guess I'm already there I come home -- she lifted up her wings Guess that this must be the place I can't tell one from another Did I find you, or you find me? There was a time before we were born If someone asks, this where I'll be . . . where I'll be--Talking Heads So that's it. I've mentioned my job discontent before, but I think I've finally passed the point where I have no choice but to polish up the resume, brush off the virtual rolodex and start knocking on doors. I can't really go into detail, but I guess I've been waiting for that one "qualifying event" to push me over the edge, and now it's happened.

At this point, the idea of a 9-5 job where you don't take your job home with you is more appealing that true job satisfaction. But I guess the ass is always greener in the other pants.

I wholeheartedly concur. Unfortunately, I'm starting to think there isn't a decent job out there where you can attain career satisfaction and/or not have to deal with back-stabbing jackasses.

When you're looking for a job, B2, I suggest asking whether after-hours work is expected. I think it's a question that's just as important as one about salary, vacation days, health benefits or retirement plans. The answer, and your inner reaction to it, will guide you in deciding whether the job is really worth your while. A high salary and great schedule aren't worth as much as advertised if your boss is stealing your free time.
