Russert Speaks
Tim Russert said last night that his Catholic grade school teacher started a school paper and made him editor to help channel his abundance of energy. He credited that with getting accepted at the Jesuit high school across town, where there was room for the son of a newspaper delivery man and sanitation worker among all the sons of doctors and lawyers, etc.
One day at the high school, Father Sturm threw him against the lockers, as Jesuit disciplinarians tend to do (from what I hear). Russert asked for mercy. Father Sturm answered: "Russert, mercy is for God. I deliver justice."
Apparently, this is Russert's go-to story. But it is a good tale. Got a positive crowd response (the technical term. Laughter and applause for us lay people.)
Makes me again wish my dad insisted that I go to Loyola or Ignatius for high school.

Ain't many ways outta tha mean streets of Buffalo, New York. Ya either sling dope, shoot hoops, or pass yourself off as a nonpartisan political commentator while lobbing softball questions to a corrupt administration. Aight?
