The only good Republican is a Dead Republican, but why now?
The year is 1981, i've just gotten home from a long day of enduring the fourth grade, made myself a snack of some sort and settled down to catch up on the wacky, zany world that was (and i presume still is) the Guiding Light. I don't remember exactly what the prevailing story line was that day, but just as I was relaxing into the mindless stupor I had been looking forward to, CBS saw fit to interrupt with the news that President Ronald Reagan had been shot. Fairly exciting stuff, but it was nothing compared to what was happening in the imaginary city of Springfield.
So, jump forward 23 years... it's a different house, a different snack, and a different mindless stupor; but one i'd been looking forward to all week. It's about 10 minutes to halftime, DC United is losing and struggling but are fighting back when it happens... the old fucker died. ...and the game isn't even pre-empted for news coverage, it's bumped in favor of the WNBA game that was bumped from ABC for news coverage.
Fucking Gipper.
